The First Light

The First Light (MP3)

Genesis 1:1-5 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. Then He separated the light from the darkness. God called the light “day” and the darkness “night.” And evening passed and morning came, marking the first day.

Who caused the separation to exist and which is good?

John 1:1-5 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through Him, and nothing was created except through Him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. [This is the theme of our Advent season]

Is light or darkness stronger in your heart and mind?

John 3:18-21 “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in Me. But anyone who does not believe in me has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than they loved the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right  come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants.” – Jesus

Do you wrestle with feelings of judgment, should you?
