Stars, Scars & Life

Colossians 2:8-15 Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ. For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority. When you came to Christ, you were circumcised, but not by a physical procedure. Christ performed a spiritual circumcision – the cutting away of your sinful nature. For you were buried with Christ when you were baptized. And with him you were raised to new life because you trusted the mighty power of God, who raised Christ from the dead. You were dead because of your sins and because your sinful nature was not yet cut away. Then God made you alive with Christ, for He forgave all our sins. He cancelled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, He disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them n the cross.

Gnostics and Hellenists brought false teachings in Paul’s day; today we battle ___________ and ________ ________.(V8)

1 Timothy 4:7 Do not waste your time arguing over godless ideas and old wives’ tales. Instead train yourself to be godly.

Some believe the more you __________ the body the more ______ you will be. (V 9-11)

Ephesians 2:8-9 God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.

In christ we are invited into a ________ life. (V 12-13)

Mark 8:35 If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it, but if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will save it.

John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.
