1 Corinthians 13:13 And now these three remain; faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
Faith = the moral and spiritual quality of people who know and demonstrate a confidence in and a devotion to the revealed truth about God. It is to believe in who God is, and what He says is true, which causes repentance of sin, and acceptance of Holy Spirit empowerment, the hope of glory.
Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
Hope = Anticipation of a favorable outcome under God’s guidance. A confidence in what God did for us in the past guarantees our participation in what He will do in the future. Confidence is encouraged by God’s love through Jesus Christ His Son, whom He raised as the first from the dead! And, God will do the same for all who believe in the Name of His Son, our Lord, Jesus Christ. So, hope is the secure future of the believer’s resurrection at the second coming of Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in Him.
John 14:2-3 In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am.
Love = A forever confidence in God’s presence and favor.
Romans 8:38-39 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today or worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in ALL creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
1 John 4:7-12 [NLT] Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world, so that we might have eternal life through Him. This is real love – not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as sacrifice to take away our sins.
Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other. No one has ever seen God, but if we love each other, God lives in us, and His love is brought to full expression in us.
