{"id":2481,"date":"2019-10-20T10:00:19","date_gmt":"2019-10-20T17:00:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mvcog.org\/wp\/?p=2481"},"modified":"2019-10-25T14:52:03","modified_gmt":"2019-10-25T21:52:03","slug":"philippians-25-7-have-this-attitude","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/mvcog.org\/wp\/2019\/10\/20\/philippians-25-7-have-this-attitude\/","title":{"rendered":"Philippians 2:5-7: Have this Attitude"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"http:\/\/mvcog.org\/sermons\/sermon-20191020.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Have this attitude<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It literally says \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">think this<\/span>\u201d among yourselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attitude is something so <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ingrained<\/span> in our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">character<\/span> that it has become part of our way of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Choices determine <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">habits<\/span>, which over time become <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">character<\/span>, which over time becomes our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">attitude<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">outlook<\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">life-view<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">People notice our attitude<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>So our friends may notice our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">attitude<\/span>. It affects how people <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">view<\/span> us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Among ourselves<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>But when Paul uses the words \u201camong yourselves\u201d he\u2019s saying <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">All<\/span> of you have this attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Brothers and sisters in Christ should not <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">spitefully use<\/span> each other<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-appointed \u201cFruit Inspectors\u201d tend to have a <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">rebellious<\/span>, dishonoring attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They forget \u201cby what <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">measure<\/span> you use, you will be judged\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are supposed to build up, equip, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">encourage<\/span> in service to God<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which was also in Christ Jesus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus is our <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">ultimate example<\/span> of Christian behavior.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus is our ultimate <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">model<\/span> of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">humility<\/span> in service to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> Jesus existed in the form of God<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Jesus was of one substance, one form with God.
